Hi, I’m Justin. I am a lover of being in motion in the mountains, training, and enjoying life. My two degrees (B.S. in Nutrition, Exercise, and Health Science and M.S. in Exercise Science) have absolutely nothing to do with my 9-5 job, but have everything to do with my life. Since I was a kid, being an athlete has always been a part of my identity, and the discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and competitive drive from competing at an early age continues to shape who I am today.
The (Un)Professional Athlete is a project over three years in the making. Having an Exercise Science background, my friends often reach out to me with training related questions. Sometimes they are asking about a specific workout, or for me to look over their training plan. Other times, it’s about a fitness article they read in Outside magazine. Whatever the case, I’ve always been happy to help. These questions have often left me wondering “What about people who don’t have a friend with my experience/background? Where do they go for help?” Well, my new friends, here you are!
A little about me:
- Small Town Nebraska Native

My goal for The (Un)Professional Athlete is to give the everyday athlete access to information they may not normally have. Through blog posts, podcasts, & interviews, I hope to educate fellow (Un)Professional Athletes and build a supportive, interactive community.
